Kenya Reports New Ebola Cases
The health authorities in Kenya announced a new confirmed case of Ebola, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8. The first case involves a man who was ill in Congo for a month before traveling overland to Uganda, then taking a plane to Nairobi on October 3rd. The virus is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of infected individuals. Its symptoms include fever, vomiting, and diarrhea, with internal and external bleeding in advanced cases. The current wave of infections involves the rare "Bundibugyo" strain, which has no approved vaccines or treatments available at this time, complicating efforts to contain the outbreak.
