France imposes night curfew in four northern cities
The French government has imposed a nightly curfew in four northern cities—Lille, Douai, Denain, and Wattignies—from 8 PM to 6 AM as a precautionary measure following acts of violence and looting in these areas. The measure, approved with the agreement of the local mayors, aims to protect shops and neighborhoods from further deterioration, especially after about 26,000 people participated in violent protests that caused widespread damage, including the burning of stores. This comes as part of the government's efforts to control security tensions, with police making hundreds of arrests, while the "Yellow Vest" movement announced an escalation of its protests.
