Fire at Nektest Protein factory after protester dead
A fire threatened the vicinity of the "Nuctest Protein" factory in Bouzlaffa, following the death of a citizen in a traffic accident nearby, amid ongoing mystery surrounding the causes of the fire and the death. The French-Tunisian company specializing in insect farming and converting larvae into feed proteins also faced a dispute over the suspension of its Kramblia unit, which provides about seventy jobs and is under threat of license revocation. Concurrently, "Nuctest Protein" completed international funding of 18 million euros in November 2025 to support its expansion in the production of insect-derived proteins. Authorities and investors are awaiting clarification on the causes of the fire and death, as well as on the fate of the industrial unit and the future of the company's investments.
