Six new suspects linked to jewelry trade network
The Public Prosecutor's Office reported that a criminal network involving traders and jewelry factory owners is accused of smuggling and money laundering nearly two tons of scrap gold over the past six years. They used fake companies and illegal supply books to carry out these activities. The police detained 13 individuals, including jewelry artisans in the Sfax gold market, and arrested six new suspects in connection with the case. More than 70 kilograms of unknown-origin gold and 4.5 kilograms of unidentified silver were seized, along with a sum of over 120,000 Tunisian dinars, nine luxury cars valued at approximately 25 million dinars, all in an effort to launder proceeds from smuggling and tax evasion, as well as to exploit professional activities. These measures are part of ongoing efforts to combat money laundering and gold smuggling.
