Trump admin deports nearly a million
A report from the Immigration Policy Institute research center revealed that the Trump administration oversaw the deportation of nearly one million individuals during the first 18 months of its second term, with the actual number of deportations reaching 980,000. The report indicated that only 20% of these deportations involved individuals who had been convicted of crimes, while 71% of the migrants who had been in the United States for more than two years were not criminally convicted. The Trump administration claims that the campaign aims to enhance domestic security, while human rights advocates argue that these measures have restricted legal freedoms and created an unsafe environment, especially for minorities. Additionally, the administration canceled over 300,000 entry visas, amidst various legal objections to the deportation processes, particularly those related to protests against the war and visa cancellations for foreigners over social media comments.
