U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to its defense agreements with Saudi Arabia and its readiness to provide security and defense guarantees to Riyadh, the UAE, and its Gulf partners if U.S. strikes against Iran resume. He said U.S. forces, including Central Command, were working to safeguard the flow of energy through the Strait of Hormuz and counter threats to ships and cargo, while decisions on taking part in any further strikes remained in the hands of the U.S. president.
