Kairouan 2028 jubilee
Civil society activists in Kairouan, at the initiative of the Association for Local Development and Social Cooperation, held a working session on November 1, 2026, to discuss preparations for the 2028 celebration marking 1,400 years since the city’s founding. Participants agreed to broaden consultations to include associations, organizations, and local institutions, and to develop a shared vision that would make the occasion an opportunity to showcase Kairouan’s civilizational and cultural heritage and enhance its profile.
