The theater artist Tawfiq Jebali was honored at a discussion titled “Tawfiq Jebali: Works and Career,” held on Wednesday at the Bachir Ben Slama Library, in Tunis’s Fourth Art Hall, as part of the fourth edition of the National Tunisian Theater Festival, “Seasons of Creativity.” The discussion looked back on his career of more than three decades and his contributions to modernizing Tunisian theater, including founding the El Teatro space and creating notable works such as *A Dinosaur’s Memoirs* and *The Retreat*. Jebali said he accepted the honor as a gesture of loyalty to the artist Mohamed Driss. He stressed that recognition of artists should go hand in hand with appropriate material and institutional conditions for creating and practicing their art.
