34-year-old teacher Leya Stewart was attacked by a shark at Koji Beach in Sydney. The incident resulted in multiple injuries to her arms and legs, and she lost a significant amount of blood, which required her to have one of her arms amputated and to undergo several surgeries. A week after the incident, doctors reduced the doses of the medications that had put her into a coma, and she was able to wake up in a short period, receiving words of love and reassurance from her mother and partner. This development was seen as a positive step on her road to recovery. Her condition remains critical and under ongoing medical care, with more surgeries expected in the coming weeks.
