The article addresses the issue of smuggling and recovering Cambodian cultural heritage, particularly sculptures and artifacts from the Khmer civilization that were stolen by gangs and individuals during the civil war and the Khmer Rouge regime. It highlights the role of the art dealer Douglas Latchford, who is accused of facilitating the illegal export of artifacts from looted sites and selling them through the global art market, despite denying any wrongdoing.
