Iran reaffirms control over Strait of Hormuz
Iran once again affirmed its right to control navigation through the Strait of Hormuz following an attack on a vessel near Oman. Tensions have heightened over Iran's right to impose fees on passing ships, leading to a drop in oil prices by more than 3%. Warnings from the United States and Gulf countries about the risks of disrupting maritime traffic are escalating, while Iran insists that the Strait of Hormuz is under its jurisdiction, with Oman also asserting authority. Iran also accuses the U.S. presence of threatening the region. Additionally, issues have been raised regarding oil supply disruptions, the return of Saudi Aramco to oil exports after a four-month halt, and increasing concerns over escalating maritime and economic tensions in the area.
