Trump's VP downplays Watergate
J.D. Vance, the former U.S. Vice President Donald Trump, said that the Watergate scandal, which led to President Richard Nixon's resignation in 1974, was crazy and downplayed its significance today, considering that if it happened now, it would just be a brief news story. His statement sparked sharp criticism, with Democratic commentator David Axelrod describing it as reflecting a moral decline during the Trump administration. The Watergate scandal involved extensive spying on the Democratic Party and became a political scandal that ultimately led to Nixon's resignation following a widespread investigative journalism effort.
