Syrian Cities Protest Israeli Actions
Hundreds of Syrians held protests on Friday in several cities across Syria, condemning the repeated Israeli incursions into the southern part of the country, which this week resulted in the death of a civilian with special needs. The Syrian government accuses Israel of violating the 1974 ceasefire agreement by penetrating southern Syria, raiding homes, arresting residents, and conducting artillery shelling, land clearing, and tree-cutting operations. Dozens of protesters carried signs denouncing these attacks and raised Syrian flags, protesting the occupation's control and condemning the repeated assaults. They called for the protection of Syrian sovereignty and an end to Israeli infiltrations. Syrian authorities condemned the targeting of civilians, holding Israel responsible for the young man's death, and stated that these attacks violate international laws and threaten regional security and stability. The United Nations expressed regret over the civilian’s death and demanded that Israel respect Syria's sovereignty. Meanwhile, Israel continues to carry out airstrikes and incursions into the region, working on land clearing, despite ongoing efforts by the Syrian government to enter security negotiations with Israel without any progress.
