Details of the Hebron attack and its perpetrators
The attack that took place near Hebron in the southern West Bank targeted an Israeli military checkpoint. Two Palestinian militants from Hebron opened fire on Israeli forces using assault weapons and a pistol after realizing they would be unable to target Highway 35 as planned. The attack resulted in injuries to five Israelis. The military forces intervened and killed the attackers, who were identified as members of the Jabe'a family and were 27 years old. Investigations indicate that the attack was premeditated, with evidence of a large amount of ammunition in their vehicle. An ongoing investigation is assessing whether they are linked to a larger terrorist network. This attack comes amid a high state of security alert ahead of the elections, and Israel continues to investigate the background of the incident and whether it was connected to a broader plot.
