Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad participated in the funeral of the former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, marking the first time since Iran's war with the United States and Israel that he appeared publicly, following long-standing reports and rumors about his health and whereabouts. Ahmadinejad appeared in the procession wearing a black shirt and was heavily protected, having stayed out of the public eye since strikes targeted his residence near his home in Tehran during the war. Earlier on Thursday, he issued a condolence statement on Khamenei's death, without specifying his location or circumstances following the strike that targeted the area around his home. Notably, Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was absent from the funeral proceedings amid speculation that he may have been injured in the strike.
