Hamas announced the dissolution of the government Emergency Committee that had been managing the Gaza Strip since the start of the war in October 2023, in preparation for transferring administration to the National Committee for Gaza's management. This move comes within the framework of Palestinian understandings and international support, aiming to create the conditions for forming a unified and trustworthy authority capable of effectively governing the sector, with a focus on reconstruction and providing essential services. Officials also emphasized the engagement of Palestinian factions and the international community with this step to improve the humanitarian and security situation in the region.
