Iranian Parliament Speaker Muhammad Baqir Qalibaf stated that Iran was informed of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei's death approximately an hour after a joint American-Israeli strike occurred on February 28. He explained that the news was announced at dawn to encourage the masses to take to the streets, following a swift decision made in coordination with security leaders to control the situation. He also pointed out that Ali Larijani, who announced Khamenei's death, had vowed to deliver an aggressive response to the United States. The early announcement, he added, was essential to prevent disturbances within the Iranian street.
