The Spanish government has confirmed that the situation in Ceuta has become "almost normal" after a significant influx of migrants from Morocco, with approximately 48,000 migrants being returned to Morocco. At least 67 individuals lost their lives while attempting to reach the city. Officials clarified that most of the migrants—mainly young people from Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa—used land and sea routes, facing strict security measures, including a 500-meter long rubber barrier in the Mediterranean Sea to reduce threats. Spain announced a plan to regularize the status of irregular migrants, and the Prime Minister condemned media attacks targeting Spanish territorial integrity, calling for increased European solidarity. The escalation has led to a security and political crisis, with international and regional pressures mounting on Spain, amid criticism from some European countries over its border policies.
