The U.S. Marine Corps announced that a stealth fighter jet of the "F-35B" model crashed near Miramar Air Base in San Diego, California. The pilot survived the incident after ejecting from the aircraft using the ejection seat. The accident was classified as a “Category A” serious incident, and video footage showed plumes of smoke and fire-resistant materials rising around the wreckage. This incident follows approximately seven other military aviation accidents in the United States since the beginning of the year, including a “B-52” crash in June that resulted in the deaths of all onboard.
