The European Football Union (UEFA) expresses its welcome for the decision by the International Federation (FIFA) to withdraw the proposed sales plan for shares in the men's and women's World Cups to investors, which had sparked widespread criticism. UEFA confirmed that this announcement comes after FIFA realized that the project was exacerbating divisions and conflicting with the goal of unifying and improving football. It also noted that the sales plan was being managed secretly and lacked transparency. The European Union highlighted that this step restores trust in football and emphasizes the need for a fundamental review to ensure such schemes are not repeated, criticizing the lack of transparency and the misuse of federation funds.
