A recent study has revealed that the planet "LHS 1140b," located 49 light-years from Earth and classified as an "super-Earth," shows promising indicators of possessing an atmosphere. This makes it one of the top candidates in the search for extraterrestrial life. The planet, which orbits within the habitable zone of a red dwarf star, has a mass approximately five times that of Earth. It is believed to be a rocky planet with a core of iron and a silicate mantle, with the potential to contain water, along with an atmosphere gradually losing helium gas. Although discovering a healthy atmosphere capable of supporting life remains uncertain, scientists suspect the presence of other gases such as oxygen is possible. The detection of an atmosphere around a rocky planet orbiting a red star is considered a significant achievement, especially given the intense activity of red dwarf stars that could affect the stability of the atmosphere. Further observations are planned to confirm the presence of the atmosphere, as the topic of breathable atmospheres remains a focal point in ongoing research.
