Iran observes Imam Hussein's commemoration amid wartime atmosphere
In the context of an escalating military escalation in the region, hundreds of Iranians are participating in commemorating the 40th-day remembrance of Imam Hussein in Iraq, carrying images of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and raising the slogan of victory, while expressing their resilience despite war and economic pressures. This comes after tensions that have shaken the region since the start of the war in October 2023, which has intensified through American and Israeli strikes on Iranian and Iraqi sites, resulting in the death of dozens of Iranians and various military assets. Despite these events, participants reaffirm their readiness to sacrifice and confront aggression, emphasizing that Iran is at their core and that they are prepared to retaliate for Qasem Soleimani’s killing. Meanwhile, religious and political momentum continues to strengthen the bonds between Iraq and Iran amid the annual celebrations.
