The Iraqi government affirms its readiness to prevent any attacks originating from Iraqi territory against neighboring countries, amid escalating regional tensions and American and Saudi strikes against Iran-backed factions. It announced the formation of a joint security committee to strengthen sovereignty, while Iran-backed Iraqi factions responded by killing 20 of their members in airstrikes and threatening to launch attacks against American and Saudi forces, placing Iraq at risk of escalation. The government faces challenges in controlling armed factions supported by Iran, which are expanding and possess a large arsenal of weapons, making it more difficult to contain security tensions in the region.
