Young Moroccan swimmer leads rankings amid media confusion

Open Source sources within Al Jazeera network have determined that the video claiming to document a young Moroccan man expressing his illegal crossing into Ceuta by swimming is unrelated to recent events. In fact, the footage is old, dating back to July 2023, taken on the Moroccan coast in the city of El Jadida. It has been used out of context amid a surge in irregular crossings into Ceuta during the escalation of the migration crisis, although it does not prove an actual crossing. The person in the video confirmed that he has not left Morocco at all, and the scenes he recorded earlier are being misleadingly used in the current coverage.
