Ceuta migrant return and fatalities
The number of irregular migrants who lost their lives while trying to cross the border between Morocco and Ceuta has risen to 72. Meanwhile, more than 73,000 migrants have returned to Morocco since late July, amid ongoing Moroccan efforts to prevent further illegal immigration through security barriers and transportation means for returning migrants. The city of Fnideq is beginning to regain stability after days of tension, with significant security reinforcements at border crossings to prevent migration attempts. Voluntary repatriation operations for migrants suffering difficult conditions in the streets continue as well. Spain is also working to strengthen security measures at the border, including the establishment of a maritime barrier to counter illegal crossing attempts.
