Did you document Epstein's victims' suffering
The article discussed a scandal involving the exposure of personal information of victims and cases related to Jeffrey Epstein. It involved the release of hundreds of thousands of documents connected to him by the U.S. Department of Justice, which led to victims facing harassment and threats. Investigations revealed that some files contained personal details that were not fully concealed, such as names, photographs, and email addresses, with evidence of manipulation or editing of the data after publication. Collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute to investigate the audio recordings uncovered weaknesses in data protection, as certain instances showed that sensitive information was not adequately masked. The U.S. Department of Justice has not officially responded to these findings, but ongoing scrutiny aims to ensure compliance with data protection laws—especially following the introduction of a new bill that would allow victims to sue the department if they fail to safeguard their data—particularly as the continued publication of information could lead to harassment, psychological harm, and threats against the victims.
