Egyptian Party Proposes Social Media Law
An Egyptian political party proposes a draft law aimed at regulating digital communication platforms and combating cybercrimes, particularly those related to deepfakes, extortion, and cyberbullying, while preserving freedom of opinion and expression. The law seeks to update legislation to keep pace with rapid advancements in artificial intelligence technologies. It includes the creation of a national platform for content creators, establishing guidelines for content monitoring, increasing penalties, and protecting children in the digital environment. This initiative is part of the Egyptian government's efforts to strengthen the regulatory framework for the digital space, ensuring a safe online environment that encourages innovation and shields society from emerging technology-related crimes.
