Morocco sees 11 deaths and 40,000 cross to Ceuta
The article discusses a collective attempt by a large number of migrants, approximately 40,000 people, to reach the Spanish-occupied city of Ceuta via the Moroccan border, which resulted in the deaths of 11 individuals and the drowning of several others. The Moroccan Ministry of Interior explained that these attempts were not random; rather, they involved various methods such as exploiting the internet, spreading misleading information, and human trafficking by smuggling gangs, all aimed at deceiving migrants into believing that reaching Europe would be easy and without legal consequences. The Ministry also confirmed that all migrants who managed to reach Melilla have been returned, and that stability is gradually being restored as border crossings are closed and authorities prepare to deal with any potential threats. It emphasized that addressing the phenomenon of irregular migration requires shared responsibility and broad international cooperation to effectively combat these dangerous phenomena.
