Moroccan Interior Ministry: 11 Dead in Crossings
Eleven people died, including one due to a fall and ten due to drowning, during attempts by more than 41,000 individuals to illegally cross into the Moroccan cities of Ceuta and Melilla. The data show that these crossing attempts were driven by organized exploitation of digital spaces, the spreading of misinformation, and the use of human trafficking networks, all aimed at creating the false impression that reaching Europe is easy and without legal consequences. The Moroccan Ministry of the Interior stated that it was able to return a large number of migrants to their homeland through cooperation with Spain and by facilitating their return. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to taking all necessary measures to protect border security and individuals' safety, as part of its ongoing efforts to combat irregular migration and human trafficking.
