Petković Departs Algerian Squad
The Bosnian coach Vladimir Petković has departed from leading the Algerian national team after a disappointing performance at the 2026 World Cup, as Algeria is leaving the tournament after being eliminated in the Round of 32. The Algerian Football Association has reached an agreement to terminate his contract amicably, with a compensation equivalent to three months' salary. It is expected that the association will appoint a coach from the European school, possibly Spanish, to strengthen the team's chances in competing for the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 title and qualifying for the 2030 World Cup. There are also rumors that Ententer Yahiya will join the technical staff, with the aim of improving the team's performance, which has declined since winning the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.
