Trump to start Iran talks Monday
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that negotiations with Iran will begin on Monday afternoon, in response to requests from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar to cancel the strikes that Washington had been planning. He indicated that there is mutual understanding regarding the Strait of Hormuz and that an agreement could be reached concerning the Iranian nuclear issue or nuclear disarmament. He also confirmed that Iran had requested the cancellation of the strikes, and that the United States is engaging with them in ongoing negotiations, amid concern from Gulf countries and calls for de-escalation in the region.
