Maduro commends Venezuela's dialogue from New York
The Venezuelan government, from its prison in New York, praised the progress of the political dialogue that both parties are preparing to launch under the auspices of the United States, aiming to achieve a political transition and hold elections. This dialogue comes seven months after the detention of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife on charges related to terrorism and drugs. It is scheduled to take place next week and will include negotiations on a timetable for the elections, although opposition leader María Corina Machado has not been invited to participate. Maduro's trial is officially set to begin in June 2027 on drug trafficking charges, after he presented himself as a "war prisoner" during his first court appearance.
