Taiwan Hosts Largest Military Drills Against China
The article details the annual "Han Kwang" military drills conducted by Taiwan starting from August 5th. These exercises are considered the largest and most comprehensive since their establishment, focusing on simulating a comprehensive naval blockade and deterring Chinese aggression. The drills include joint naval operations to protect shipping lanes and test the capacity of civilian and military forces to maintain production and transportation under siege or bombardment. They also involve training civilians to deal with internet outages during emergencies. These maneuvers come amid escalating tensions with China, which responds by intensifying its military demonstrations, while Washington monitors the situation and warns of the consequences of a conflict between Beijing and Taipei. Meanwhile, Taiwan is seeking to strengthen its defensive capabilities through plans to produce high-precision cruise missiles, aiming to fortify itself against any potential attack.
