Egypt presses to reopen Rafah crossing
The article discusses Egypt's efforts to pressure for the reopening of the Rafah crossing to allow goods to enter Gaza, despite Israel's insistence on limiting its entry through the Kerem Shalom crossing in order to prevent the smuggling of weapons and dual-use materials. Israel affirms that it has no intention of changing this policy, as approximately 600 trucks pass daily through Kerem Shalom, all of which are subject to Israeli inspection. These developments come as the United States prepares for the next phase of the Gaza agreement, which involves Hamas disarmament in exchange for an Israeli withdrawal. Meanwhile, Israel continues to escalate its strikes on the territory, and statements vary regarding progress in efforts to de-escalate the situation.
