Clashes in Zawiya test al-Dbeiba security
Western Libya is witnessing a rise in armed clashes between militias and armed factions affiliated with the Government of National Unity in Tripoli, especially in Zawiya. This reflects the government's failure to establish control and neutralize armed groups. As a result, the security situation has deteriorated, with militias maintaining their influence and ongoing clashes threatening the city's stability and economic interests, particularly given the continued support from the government through financial supplies and temporary understandings. The situation is among the most complex, with the government being accused of not taking serious steps to dismantle the armed groups, leading to their expanded influence, increased violence, and a loss of public trust in the state's ability to ensure their security.
