Israel launches large-scale Qalandiya operation
Israel announced the launch of a large-scale operation in Balata Refugee Camp north of Jerusalem, aimed at targeting terrorist infrastructure and weapons possession as part of its efforts to combat what it describes as terrorism. Israeli forces carried out an attack early this morning amid significant military reinforcements, raiding homes and assaulting residents and journalists, resulting in injuries and arrests. They also destroyed some facilities, turning them into military barracks, with intense deployment of army troops and bulldozers. This operation comes as Israel expands its military activities in West Bank camps, following previous operations that caused widespread destruction and mass displacements in camps such as Jenin and Tulkarem, in an attempt to contain what Israel labels terrorism—actions that increase tension and escalation in the region.
