Egypt sugar prices fall amid ample stockpile
The price of a kilogram of sugar in Egypt has decreased to approximately 28 Egyptian pounds (0.56 USD) due to increased supply and decreased demand. The government has affirmed that it holds a strategic stockpile sufficient for an entire year. Officials explained that local production has approached 3 million tons annually, compared to a consumption of 3.2 million tons, which nearly achieves self-sufficiency for Egypt and supports price stability. They also noted the government's efforts to boost production and encourage private sector investment, while maintaining reserves and ensuring market stability.
