Iran discloses terms for Strait of Hormuz deal
Iran and Oman have reached a preliminary agreement regarding the management of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The plan includes establishing new shipping routes and regulating vessel movement through Iranian and Omani waters. This arrangement could be in place for two to four months, subject to approval by the Iranian high leadership. However, this arrangement does not guarantee the full reopening of the strait, as its resumption depends on preconditions set by Iran related to the United States, including lifting sanctions and ensuring regional security stability. The understanding comes amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States over monitoring the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most vital energy passages.
