Why Abdul's win sparked debate
Progressive candidate Abdul Saleh won the Democratic Senate nomination for Michigan, defeating the Democratic Party's vice chair and "AIPAC" nominee who spent over $50 million to support him. The victory came after a fierce campaign and is seen as a turning point against the influence of political money, with Abdul Saleh reaffirming his commitment to removing large sums from politics and achieving comprehensive healthcare. The win was widely welcomed by progressive and labor circles, while the Republican Party launched an attack. Former U.S. President Donald Trump described Abdul Saleh's victory as a loss for extremist policies, predicting that he will face Republican candidate Mike Rojers in the upcoming November election.
