Ceuta to relocate minors to Spain
The local authorities in Ceuta, which is occupied by Spain north of Morocco, confirmed that hundreds of unaccompanied minors remain in the city despite their return to Morocco. Among them are approximately 1,100 children facing difficulties in reception centers or sleeping in the streets, following the influx of 72,000 migrants onto the beaches over the course of a week. The surge in arrivals resulted in the death of around 75 people in a stampede at the border and has sparked legal and political tensions regarding deportations and organization. Legal procedures for identifying unaccompanied minors and reuniting them have become more complex, while the Spanish government has allocated 25 million euros in financial support to aid them. Disputes between political parties over the implementation of policies related to migrants and the burden on border regions are intensifying.
