Israeli couple accused of Iran espionage
The Israeli Public Prosecutor's Office reported that a married couple from Ashkelon has been charged with espionage on behalf of Iran. They collected photos and information about civilian and military sites, as well as security personnel, in exchange for financial payments via cryptocurrencies. Their activities included photographing homes, security installations, and commercial centers, and they attempted to monitor a naval base and a military port. Authorities deliberately detained them before they could carry out additional missions in Beersheba. The defendants later admitted that they were aware their activities were related to an adversarial entity and that they carried them out at the request of operators in Iran.
