A recent study indicates that using whole goat's milk as an alternative to traditional formula feeding significantly reduces the risk of developing chronic eczema in infants. The incidence rate was 18% in the goat's milk group compared to 48% in the cow's milk group. The study involved more than 2,000 infants in Spain and Poland, following the children until their first birthday, with plans for long-term follow-up until age five to examine the impact of skin conditions on other illnesses such as allergies and asthma. The researchers advise caution in interpreting the results until additional studies are available, but the findings suggest that goat's milk could potentially be a protective option against eczema in some children.
