The seventh round of Lebanon-Israel negotiations in Rome ended without an official final statement. Both parties confirmed their alignment on referring the situation to the Security Council to discuss the post-UNIFIL forces phase. The ongoing field escalation in southern Lebanon, including Israeli raids on towns such as Al-Burj Al-Shimali, is exerting significant pressure on the negotiations. It also reflects differing stances, ranging from limited understandings to Hezbollah's rejection of the talks. The negotiations primarily focused on establishing a ceasefire, borders, prisoners, and verification mechanisms, while the continued military escalation threatens to complicate political solutions.
