Europe faces heatwave with Italy on alert and Hungary turning off lights
Europe is experiencing an unprecedented heatwave and devastating forest fires this summer, with temperatures reaching as high as 41.2°C in Austria. In Italy, the Ministry of Health issued a red alert for all major cities due to the rising temperatures, which pose health risks. The low water levels in rivers have led to a state of emergency in some areas, such as Piedmont. Meanwhile, Hungary has shut off non-essential lights in government institutions, including Parliament, Chain Bridge, and Buda Castle, due to water shortages that have damaged cooling sources at its only nuclear power plant, exerting significant pressure on the country's electricity supply.
