The head of Ecuador's intelligence agency, Michel Sensy-Conntogi, his wife, and five American citizens were killed in a helicopter crash in central Kenya during a recreational sightseeing trip. The helicopter was an EC-130-B4 model carrying seven people, and none survived. The crash occurred near Mount Ololokwe, about 250 km north of Nairobi, a popular tourist destination. The Kenyan pilot was injured. Sensy-Conntogi was close to the Ecuadorian president and had been serving as head of intelligence since 2024, briefly holding the position of Minister of Internal Affairs beforehand. The trip was suddenly canceled for unknown reasons, and Kenyan authorities are investigating the cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the Ecuadorian government declared three days of mourning and flew the flag at half-mast.
