Lake Zurich hits 75-year low
Switzerland is facing a severe drought that has caused water levels in Lake Zurich to drop to their lowest point in 75 years. On Friday, the water level in the lake was recorded at 404.45 meters above sea level, marking a decline from the previous record set in 1952. This situation results from notable drought conditions since spring, with below-average rainfall and temperatures exceeding seasonal norms, leading to soil dryness and a decrease in both surface and groundwater. As a result, many other Swiss lakes have also experienced declining levels, with the situation worsening in recent weeks.
