The Sohag Governorate in Egypt was the site of a horrific murder known as the "Shush Massacre," where a husband and his brother killed two people after the husband returned from Libya to discover his wife’s relationship with two men. The husband may face charges under Article 237 of the Penal Code, which provides a legal excuse if someone catches their wife in the act of adultery and kills her; however, it has not yet been determined whether this article will be applied to the defendant, as investigations into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. Legal authorities are focusing on analyzing whether the conditions of Article 237 are met and on preventing escalation of such acts of revenge. A ban on publishing details has been requested due to the sensitivity of the case, and the results of the investigations are awaited to establish the precise legal responsibility.
