The United States has imposed sanctions on International Criminal Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan and Senegalese Deputy Prosecutor Abdullah Said, in an effort to pressure the court over its investigations into countries such as Israel and Russia, especially after the issuance of arrest warrants against senior officials like Netanyahu and Vladimir Putin. Washington insists that these measures are aimed at undermining the court’s activities, while other countries such as the Netherlands oppose them, arguing that these sanctions harm the rule of law and hinder the work of the international tribunal. The court is currently experiencing a major crisis due to American attacks, which accuse the court of politicization and overreach, whereas human rights organizations contend that the sanctions weaken victims of war crimes' ability to achieve justice.
