The spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Li Jian, confirmed that China agrees with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's remarks regarding Japan. Lavrov pointed out that Japan was classified as an enemy state at the beginning of its admission to the United Nations, and that Japan has disavowed its military policies and recognized the fundamental principles of the Charter. Li explained that the provisions designating Japan as an enemy state are important within the United Nations Charter, especially as the 80th anniversary of the Tokyo Trials approaches. reaffirming this classification is crucial for preserving China's victory in the resistance war against Japanese aggression, preventing the resurgence of militarism in Japan, and emphasizing the need for Japan to adhere to legal documents such as the Cairo Declaration and Japan's surrender. He also stressed holding Japan accountable for its evasion of historical responsibility, warning against attempts to justify actions and escalate military tensions that threaten international peace.
