Allowing the use of "Starlink" devices in certain countries enables civilians and protestors to bypass government restrictions on the internet, especially in conflict zones like Iran and Afghanistan. These devices have managed to provide independent connectivity outside traditional infrastructure and without relying on electrical grids, making them difficult to track and impede. However, many governments, such as those of Iran, China, and Cameroon, enforce strict laws, confiscate devices, or punish users because of the threat they pose to national security and information control. Reports indicate that Iran has arrested hundreds of people and imposed penalties on those who own or distribute Starlink devices. Sources also reveal that there are over 30,000 active devices in the country, with plans to restrict or ban their use completely.
